we moved in!

07/30/2012 § 1 Comment

What a crazy week.

We moved to our space, cleaned and wiped like a crazy person, and helped our tenant into her space!

We are IN!

Over the weekend, we ran into this guy selling most amazing plants on the street in Carroll Gardens on our way back from Lowes.  So we picked this tall palm tree (over 10ft tall) and a 5ft tall fig tree.

Feels like we are in a european riviera.

tom dixon copper light

We got it.  It’s beautiful.

At first, I thought we got the copper color, but when we came home I realized we had actually picked out the gold color.  Happy mistake – it’s perfect.

It’ll light up our living space.

We are waiting for the electrician to come back and instal it.  Will share once it’s up.

… until then …

Here are some images of the light used in space.

our stairs

I’ve been posting some amazing stairs on my blog – and wanted to share with you our modest (and lovely) stair cases.

This is on your way up to the 2nd floor.  Once the apartment is done, we won’t see much of this space since we’ll be using the downstairs entrance as our main egress.  Will miss this view for sure.

And we DID end up putting in the railing and banisters on the garden floor.  I wasn’t sure if it’ll look too stuffy, but actually happy with the result.  We re-used the original railing and banister, which feels just right.

lights!

Went to the Conran Shop, just to check it out – and it happened to be the summer sale!  AND the lights we were thinking of was available at 50% off.  What good luck we have.

One for the living space and another above dining area.

Will show you what we got soon!

Ceiling Medallion

Because the original ceiling had a huge crack on the plaster, we had to replace the parlor floor ceiling.  We tried our best to save the stunning plaster ceiling medallion, there is no way to re-use it.  We will keep it in our basement for one day maybe to cast it.

The ceiling looks naked now, so we are searching for the right medallion.

Momo and I am both not very decorative, so this is hard one for us to decide on.  I think the best way to approach it is to see what kind of shapes appeal to us : geometric.

Here are some options I’ve found so far.

would it look…?

like a tiny speck in our parlor living room?  Or would it look nice?
