Door: Crackle finish?

04/15/2012 § Leave a comment

Last night I got this idea to crackle finish our salvaged doors instead of:

1. Painting them solid white : easiest and clean look, but would love more texture…

2. Trying to rough-sand them to keep some texture / color.  Lot of work and who knows how long it will take.  The last time I tried to strip our marble fireplace, it just became tons of painstaking work AND I had to get it professionally done at the end.

Maybe it was a late night delirium…  Will have to consult Momo about this idea.

Here’s DIY Crackle finish + shopping list!

“Apply a base coat of paint to the project surface, and let dry. The base coat will show through the crackled top coat, so choose paint colors that contrast nicely. ” (from here)
