contractor bids

It’s taking a while to get the bids in… and we have 2 out of 5 in.  It ranges dramatically, one bid is almost 200k (174,650), another almost 100k (90k roughly).  Obviously 200k is totally over our budget – this is just the rental units we are taking about without fixtures and appliances.  Even 100k is over our budget.  yikes.

Come~ bright ideas and some light to guide us!

Art from Haiti

06/29/2011 § Leave a comment

Since I’ve been traveling to Haiti for work, somehow became a Haitian art aficionado.  Here are 2 paintings I’ve picked up last spring.

I’ve always been a fan of Art Brut, or naive art, which Haitian art reminds me of.

You can read all about the amazing history of Haitian art on this book : Where Art is Joy.

As we are going for the minimal look throughout the home, we will have to rotate art and enjoy one at a time.

This one is by Louisiane St Fleurant… stunning.
